User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 7.1.1; Tablet; rv:54.0) Gecko/54.0 Firefox/54.0
Build ID: 20170628221524
Steps to reproduce:
I received an email:
Hi David,
On September 28, 2017, we’ll be making some changes to Dropbox that will likely affect the following 3rd party apps linked to your Dropbox account: Sailfish OS, Mozilla Thunderbird. You’re receiving this email because you’ve used these apps at least once within the past month.
While we’ve informed all developers about our upcoming changes, the developers for the apps listed above have yet to update their apps accordingly. If they don’t update their apps before September 28, these apps will no longer be able to access Dropbox. That said, any data already saved in Dropbox won’t be affected and will still be accessible from our official web, mobile, and desktop clients.
As a recent user of these apps, we recommend you take the following actions:
Review how you use these apps, especially if you use them to access Dropbox
If you rely on these apps to store data in Dropbox, we suggest exporting or backing up any data from these apps before the September 28 deadline.
We understand changes like these can be inconvenient. We hope that the recommendations above help you plan accordingly. If you have any questions about these apps, please contact the apps through their support channels.

NI'ing a few people here.
Dropbox Filelink is not part of Thunderbird, it must be supported by some add-on, right?
Richard, you use it.

There is an unmaintained addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/dropbox-for-filelink/?src=search

Yes, sorry, I've had it so long, and use it so often, I'd forgotten it involved an addon.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/thunderbird/addon/dropbox-for-filelink/?src=ss
That says "Add Dropbox support to Thunderbird's Filelink feature."

Correct - unfortunately, I don't have the cycles to maintain this anymore. I'm happy to transfer ownership to somebody else if they have the time to switch over to the new API.

Codes over at https://github.com/mikeconley/thunderbird-filelink-dropbox for anyone interested.
Looks like they're deprecating the v1 API and we need to switch to v2: https://blogs.dropbox.com/developers/2017/06/updated-api-v1-deprecation-timeline/

Magnus hasn't commented so I asusme he's not doing it.
I've just emailed Carlin Scott (cc Mike and Magnus) - https://github.com/carlin-q-scott - who posted in April on AMO an interest in doing this. I don't see that he has a bugmail address.

As this is an add-on problem I think we can close this bug. I might be able to do this some time in the future, but no promises.

I looked into this and concluded that it might be easiest to adapt the code for Box (assuming that works), which already uses oauth2, to the new dropbox API
https://dxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/source/mail/components/cloudfile/nsBox.js
I lack the expertise to do it though.
