This is fall out from bug 1371291 and is for Android 6.0 nytimes only and appears to be consistent. Another nytimes only crash which appeared with the new shutdown intent is bug 1392690 which is Android 4.2 only. They may be the same issue, or not. I am going to let this run for a while and then disable nytimes on the affected devices until this can be fixed.
