When using webrtc such as appear.in and the tab recording you is not the selected tab then the tab title overlaps the tab's icon. Additionally when it fades out and the camera icon fades in it appears to the left of the tab overlapping the next tab.
Is this a recent regression? This smells like more fallout from bug 1352119 if so. Would be great if you could confirm so we can track it accordingly.

Looked for me like this on Windows. The tab on the right shows a little bit of the icon.

When the tab to the left is the one selected as Andy shows you can barely see the camera icon to tell you which tab is recording you. That sounds like a privacy issue to me.
