Enabled webrender (webrendest and blob images made no difference), Google Maps displayed correctly initially, and when typing an address into the map search bar, the map itself goes black consistently. The chrome around it remains fine and usable.

Nightly 58 x64 20170929100122 de_DE @ Debian Testing (KDE/Radeon RX480)
gpu process + layers force accel + webrender (layersfree) + webrendest + blob-images
I had this problem yesterday too. Saw the default map at first. After a second the satellite view came up by itself and the map got black then. Switching back to default map didn't help.
Today it seems to work. I will be attentive.

That black is WebGL and I can interact with Google Maps as if it had its expected size although it is only displayed on the bottom left.
This bug might be a duplicate of bug 1404004.

I confirm this too on Ubuntu with Nightly 58.0a1 (2017-10-18) (64-bit), with WebRender enabled (and layers.acceleration.force-enabled)
Device: Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 (Skylake GT2)
Driver: 3.0 Mesa 17.0.7

The same problem Google Maps has, can occur on http://www.goodboydigital.com/pixijs/bunnymark/ (Often fixed with F5)

Nightly 58 x64 20171024220325 de_DE @ Windows 10 1703 (Radeon RX480)
fresh profile: gfx.webrender.enabled
Looks exactly the same as on Debian (attachment 8914024 [details]).
(But I can't reproduce comment 4 here: Either it got fixed or it deserves its own bug. Will re-test on Debian.)

Google Maps turn black on latest Nightly on Windows 10 with WR enabled. This might be another bug but when starting Fx the screen is black a couple of seconds before things are displayed properly.

WFM. (But sometimes there can be a small hang when zooming in/out in satellite view.)

Bug 1412755 might addressed the problem. It fixed video and canvas layout update problem.
