Environment: ============== OS: Win NT 4.0 SP-6 Mozilla BuildID: 2002042908 Summary: ========= Right after loading http://support.acer-euro.com/faqs/faqsearch.html Mozilla slows down the whole system and at least on my machine it's nearly impossible to work with the system... Reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: ==================== 1. start mozilla 2. enter http://support.acer-euro.com/faqs/faqsearch.html 3. right after loading of the page click the datafield and enter some text Actual Results: ================ A couple of seconds nothing happens and then the entered chars appear in the datafield - but very very slow... Additionally Mozilla blocks the whole system as it's not possible to switch to another task... Expected Results: ================== Page loads and it's possible to enter the search text (wich appears as soon as I type it) without any blocking of the whole system. Additional Information: ======================== With IE 5.5 and Netscape 4.51 no problems occured on this page...

I just checked http://support.acer-euro.com/faqs/faqsearch.html and it is much faster now with a recent trunk build. Try downloading a nightly build after 06/13/02 from: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly
The build I'm using here right now is 2002070108 This should be ok - shouldn't it? btw: the machine I'm on is a P-III 500 with 512 MB RAM...
yes, that should be fine (assuming you have a trunk build - Help:About should show "rv: 1.1a+")
Well - that's what I tried to find out with Kin as I was not sure whether I downloaded a trunk or not... Here's what the about-box shows: Mozilla 1.1a+ Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.1a+) Gecko/20020701 Is this the correct type (trunk)?
yes, that's a trunk build, and this bug should be fixed in that.
Well... I can confirm that the fix for bug #141900 is contained in my build by checking the pages which had problems prior this fix, which now work fine for me. But the problems on the acer FAQ page still remain as described above in the bug-description! So re-opening _this_ bug - or bug #141900 ?
As problem still exists with trunk build 20020703 I re-open the bug...

WFM on WinXP trunk build 2002072104. Although I see a small 'lag' between entering the text, and the text appearing (see bug 158782).
WFM with 1.1 release on win2k. reporter (Erik): can you still reproduce this bug with a recent build of mozilla (for example, the 1.1 release)? if so, please comment again with details. if not, please resolve this as WORKSFORME. thanks.
Problem still persists using Mozilla 1.1b and Windows NT 4.0 - I will try again on my system @home which runs Win2k and I can also check on my girl-friend's system which runs Win 98SE, but here @work the problem is still present!
regression? see bug 165032
Summary: Mozilla blocks system → Mozilla becomes very slow on form text entry
Problem does _not_ occur on my girl-friends Win98SE system - will check also on Win2k, but I guess, this will work, too...
Problem does not occur on my system @home using Windows 2000... Perhaps someone can check this out with another system using Windows NT 4.0?

I can't reporduce it on the box running Windows NT 4.0 Server that's sitting next to me...
I guess that's enough to mark this as working now... if anyone can reproduce this, please reopen. thanks.

Ok folks - problem still persists on my side using Phoenix 0.4 and Mozilla 1.2b - but of course you're right: if noone else is able to reproduce this baby using Windoze NT 4.0 we can mark it WFM...
