When entering a phone number in 'Autofill addresses' the country code is added automatically. I seldom if ever need to use a country code at the beginning of my phone number. The +1, in my case, causes errors when a form is auto filled because most forms do not require the country code.

In bug 1413118, we're going to change to fill in the national format by default for most cases. Will follow up if that bug alleviates this issue.
