Details

This bug might seem trivial, but it is a major irritation - you just don't see who sent you your email. Instead, you see who the email was sent to - this is really useless. I have been using Mozilla and Netscape6 from the early days. I've complained about this frequently, and it still isn't fixed, whatever... It's simple. open the Mail window, look in the summary columns, typically "Subject", "Sender", etc. Choose one of the letters (if you have any). Now compare the value shown in the sender summary column, with the actual sender of the email, as shown in the "From:" header. It's just wrong.
What a sad state of affairs that usability of Mozilla/NS has been sacrificed for the purposes of people arguing over words. I regard this as a severe limitation of the software - it *really* bugs me that I cannot see the value of the "From" field in the Inbox. No doubt, the person who originally was wanting to see the value of the "To" field was talking about *Sub-Folders". But the really cruddy thing is, nobody bothered to check that this caused the InBox to have the same issue - all we can see is the value of the "To" field in InBox. Quite honestly, who gives a flying fig about who the recipient of an email was in an InBox! I always want to see who the heck sent it to me! Anyway, this shemmozzle could very easily have been solved. Just provide both "recipient" and "author" as optional columns for the list of emails. Then the end-user can choose for themselves which one they want. Ideally, it would be on a per-folder basis, to accommodate the gentleman that wanted to view "recipient" in a sub-folder, and me, who wants to view "author" in InBox. Please, please, please, pretty please with peaches and ice-cream on top, fix this in the next version. ???
how about bug 36489 for the request of having a to/from column or, the real problem may be that the inbox has been set to the sent copy folder as in bug 114533. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 36489 ***
