Build ID: 20171118100420

Steps to reproduce:

I would suggest you prevent:-

moz-extension://
https://addons.mozilla.org

from appearing in History or Top Sites

This is a particular problem if you're using a per-site modifier (uBlock Origin, uMatrix etc). The add-on's dashboard page appears in History again, and again, and again. They can also appear in Top Sites if you use them a lot.
Thanks for report!

For your issue is already filed a bug, so please follow that one. Is about the same problem: duplicates entries in History Panel or Top Sites of the pages you visited.

Hi Sorina, I am not sure that this is a duplicate. Nothing on bug 1332621 talks about hiding moz-extension and addons.mozilla.org. It only talks about de-duplication.

But I will make a comment on that thread, maybe the de-duplication will solve my problem.

Bye
I disagree about hiding addons.mozilla.org - in the end it's just another website and I don't see why we should hide it from history.

As for moz-extension:// URLs, personally I'd agree, but on the other hand Desktop decided against this in bug 1314123.

There's one crucial difference, though: Desktop still excludes popups and the like from history and only includes things that show up in a full tab.
In Fennec on the other hand, for technical reasons even things that are implemented as popups on Desktop have to use a tab and therefore appear in the browsing history, so something should probably be done.

Neither am I, to be honest.

A user reported on my issue tracker that the current behavior of showing moz-extension:// breaches private browsing:

"opening uBlock menu on Firefox android breaches private browsing"
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues/132

> When opening the uBlock origin menu from a private tab on firefox mobile
> the menu will open in a non-private tab, which if the history is enabled
> (it's default on) generates an entry in the history. The entry includes
> the title of the website from where the uBlock menu was opened. This
> breaches private browsing which goal it is to not generate any traces
> after the tabs are closed.

Probably something that raises the severity of the issue.

Transcribed steps-to-reproduce:

> open a new private tab on firefox android
> open any website eg. amazon.com
> open the uBlock menu eg. by pressing the three dots in the top right corner,
scrolling down to the item in the list called "uBlock Origin(4)"
(the intention might be to disable or enable uBlock for this website)
> the most recent item in the history is now "uBlock Origin - Amazon.com Online Shopping [...]"
