1.) go to theverge.com
2.) take a look how the URL appears in the Address Bar
3.) now activate the Tracking Protection in the Preferences
4.) visit theverge.com again
5.) take again a look how the URL appears now in the Address Bar

Actual: Without the Shield icon, there is no fluid animation.

Expected: To see always the fluid animation.

Could you elaborate on what you mean?  The animation appears precisely because tracking protection is enabled:  The URL slides out of the way of the shield.  If tracking protection is disabled, there's no shield, so there's no animation.

My report was regarding the Lock icon to be consistent with the shield icon. Therefore, it would be nice, if this animation could be also used by the Lock icon and not only by the shield icon.

Please close this report, if it is working as designed.

I see, thanks.  This is working by design, but what you're suggesting is that we change the design, to make the entrance of the lock icon match the animated entrance of the shield icon, and that's fair.
