Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0rc2)
Gecko/20020503
BuildID: 2002050306
Some sites try to open popup windows with a click in a manner that
is blocked by unticking to allow "Open unrequested windows". Since of
course 95% of Mozilla users have this ticked [*], this means annoyance
from inexplicably nonfunctional websites.
It would be nice to have some visual indicator flash that a popup is
being blocked. Could be a cursor change, or something in the status
bar; whatever the UI gurus think suitable.
Such a thing could also flash when a popup-infested site tries and
fails to go crazy with popups. Watch your 'unrequested popup' indicator
flash and flash as Mozilla blocks the site from filling your desktop
with rubbish!
[*] and 62.735% of statistics are made up on the spot ;-)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Untick to allow "Open unrequested windows"
2. Go to a site with such a window (e.g. the test URL)
3. Click on the link
Actual Results: The site silently fails.
Expected Results: A window to open. But since I told Mozilla to do what it's
doing, it would be nice to be reminded of why it's not working.
Related to bug 123286, which is an RFE to have an indication of this
show up in the Javascript console. This bug might be dependent on that
one.
Would also solve bug 102481 (where this pref breaks Outlook Web Access).
See particularly bug 102481 comment 16 - "Blocking pop-ups is almost necessary
in order to remain sane while browsing today's web."

IMO the fix to bug 123286 should be paired with some visual indication for when
a page produces a JS warning or error, clicking on that indicator will open the
js console. This will also be useful in the case the page has non-crossbrowser
javascript. All of this will fix this bug.
I couldn't find a bug in bugzilla to the "show a visual indication of the
existance of javascript warnings or errors trigered by a page" bug. Should I
file one?

Also depends on bug 47128, Display JavaScript error indicator in status bar.

sounds to me that it should be closed ? (for popups at least)

Reassigning obsolete bugs to their respective Seamonkey owners (i.e. nobody).
If you want this fixed for Firefox, change the Product and Component accordingly
and reassign back to me.
