Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0 Build ID: 20180128191252 Steps to reproduce: Given a large mailbox, when typing in a search string eg T A R G E T The search will commence as soon as justa few characters are typed eg T A R and then the focus is taken away from the text box for quite some time before the G then the E and then the T are taken into account this has been the case for years Actual results: twiddles thumbs Expected results: the moment I type the next character the search should restart for the new string.
I can't really reproduce this: I have a local folder with 73000+ messages. While the body search is running, I can keep typing and when I stop, the new search starts.
I saw something like this a few days ago, so it can happen. Worse if body search is enabled. It also depends in part on your system. see bug 944942 comment 13
