Steps to reproduce:

Create a signature in thunderbird.
Reply to an email that you received.
The placement of the signature is in wrong part of the email. i.e, it appears well below at the bottom of the email.
So if you are replying to an email that contains a conversation thread, then signature appears below at the bottom of the conversation thread.

Cursor to type blinks at the top.
the two hyphen + signature block appears at bottom


Actual results:

Nothing happens. Its a wrong placement of the signature block. 


Expected results:

Signature block should appear at the top , right below the where the message is being typed.

Well, you can configure this in the account settings:

Tools > Account Settings, Composition & Addressing:
[ ] Automatically quote the original message replying
    Then, [start my reply above/below the quote]
    and place my signature [below my reply above the quote]

In this case you won't get the signature separator --.
