Steps to reproduce:

1) Enter https://www.youtube.com/
2) Search for 60fps
3) Click any video that has been recorded in 60fps
4) Click 720p or above for 60fps playback
5) Right click on HTML5 Player and click Stats for Nerds (Last One)
6) Now you can see Frame Drops (Last One)


Actual results:

There are huge Frame Drops on 60fps playback. Tried installing and re-installing (clearing Profile too) Firefox Nightly 61.a1 as on April 24 2018 but the issue has not been solved so far.


Expected results:

It should have been super smooth playback (60fps duuh!) and almost no Frame Drops at all! This is main reason I have to switch to Google Chrome for 60fps playback but I really want Firefox Nightly to fix this issue so I don't have to give my privacy to that stupid browser.

Can you install the media devtools extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/devtools-media-panel/) 

Start playing the video in YouTube.
Open the console with ctrl-shift-I

Go to the Media tab, and select "Refresh Now"

Copy/Paste the result here.

Also a copy of your about:support would help.

As obviously, there are same results on Vimeo too. (https://www.vimeo.com/)
Simply recreate the steps from above and instead of YouTube replace it with Vimeo.
And yeah, you cannot see stats like YouTube on Vimeo. (Last two steps)

Aaand Similar Results on Twitch too. (https://www.twitch.tv/)
As always, repeat the above steps and click Settings > Advanced > Show Video Stats.

One thing is pretty noticeable that it always screws up pretty bad when Going To Full Screen.

it's not obvious at all...
Vimeo and Twitch uses h264.
YouTube uses vp9 which is a software decoder on your machine.

However, your video card got blacklisted as the drivers kept crashing, and so will all use software decoding.. Not surprising that it can't keep up with 60fps.

Try updating your intel video drivers, they are super old (but so is that machine)...

Try setting the following prefs:
media.wmf.dxva.d3d11.enabled to false (to force using d3d9)
media.hardware-video-decoding.force-enabled to true
layers.acceleration.force-enabled to true

need to restart.
