Summary: update to 60b.4 → update to 60b.4 breaks calendar
apols for all the typos! My reversions have not fixed the prob 60.0b.1 with Lightning 6.2b1 true {e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} Provider for Google Calendar 4.1b1 true {a62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc} not working, have tried with an earlier and later version of Lightning and Provider, with same failed result. even tried b2, b3 abd b4, with whichever of the add-ons would install.. Still no timezone and timeslots showing. The crash report (should have been sent - apols Wayne - a number of them, showing TZ a prob) Wehn TB loads with the Add-ons without failure, I am not even able to load the cal as a tab even though there is the Tab in prefs for Calendar. I am using FTP to pick off the candidates and trying to match versions - just so you know :-)
if someone can advise which versions go together I can test them However, suspect that regressing might not be enough- are there some files that may not get over written and therefore still be active from 60.0b4 that could be interferring? With just TB and Cal there sare a couple of gaps in the Evenst drop menu. I canot even load the cal in a separate pane, not a "dicky-bird" of cal presence anywhere
You cannot install Lightning from xpi file anymore in Thunderbird 60 because support for unpacked extension like Lightning was removed from the Mozilla platform (Bug 1406499). To workaround and switch to the Lightning bundled with Thunderbird see Bug 1454841 Comment 0 or Bug 1446537 Comment 5.
Hi Stfan, ok thanks, intersting as I did notice that recent TB updates also updated Lightning, did not fro b4! So how does this work for the provider which I need? Well tried that, reset the extension to false, was true, or shold it be back to true... not obvious in the comment, However reloaded TB still no Cal at all What am I missing /not doing?
Thunderbird bundles Lightning for long time. But the update process is not working correctly for bundled Lightning :( If you uninstall Lightning, reset the preference and restart Thunderbird than Lightning 6.2b4 should be installed. This is how I got it and I see no problem yet using Thunderbird 60b4 + Lightning 6.2b4 in my Windows setup. But I'm not using Google Provider extension. Maybe you need to update it too? You can get a build matching Lightning 6.2b4 here: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/calendar/lightning/candidates/6.2b4-candidates/build1/win32/

Ok, thanks, when you say reset the prefs it is usually set to "true" or do you mean remove or set to "false" I take it that means in the config editor of course. in the meantime I have gone back to TB 58 and assoicated Lg abnd Provider so now back with cal working and links via google Oh, BTW I am suing this on a MAC not a PC :-) So use FTP to pickup the files, will use same ver as you note above so thanks - 6.2b4 Will try to rerun the update later when time permits (tonight for me on BST) Please advise as to the full detail "reset the preference" ciao
All working now, reset to false, disabled lightning rather than unstall, updated TB from 58 to 60.0b4 - cal back online the provider needs to be 4.1b4 which I installed from FTP, now all cals back and up to date Thanks ciao Ant
bp-556f40e6-ccdd-4a1b-8db5-71b720180424 is one of Antony's crashes. jjstaff also crashed. He sent this explanation "The crash happened on two Windows 10x64 systems and one Linux system (Mint). I was installing TB 60.0b5 - all other beta versions had installed without problems. Installation went OK but TB crashed on startup in each of the systems. Resolving the problem in Windows eventually involved deleting {e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}.xpi in my Profile/extensions folder. On the Linux system this was not effective. In all cases I saved my default profile. I tried reinstalling Lightning but to no effect - I was able to get the Calendar tab to appear and also in the view menu but they didn't work. In the end I did a complete TB re-install but clearly the problem was in my profile - I removed my calendar data and this was the final fix. It was the beta 5 version of lightning that was the problem. TB 60.0b6 has installed fine and the Calendar now works as intended though I think Lightning had to be installed separately - I don't think it came bundled."

(In reply to Stefan Sitter [:ssitter] from comment #3) > You cannot install Lightning from xpi file anymore in Thunderbird 60 because > support for unpacked extension like Lightning was removed from the Mozilla > platform (Bug 1406499). This is fixed in 60.0b6, but there are still such crashes, as previously reported in bug 700827
