We would like to move the bugs from Firefox for Android :: Geckoview into GeckoView :: General
Product: GeckoView
Classification: Components
Description: The GeckoView components for Android
Components: General (we will add additional ones either in a comment or with a later bug)
Security group: core-security?
Versions: Same as Core
Target milestones: Same as Core
Flags: Same as Core
Dylan, can you do this with your next batch of console moves?
Assignee: nobody → dylan
Remember when creating this product that it needs to have the same tracking and status flags as Firefox for Android.

At the same time, please could we add GeckoView to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/describecomponents.cgi
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi
to help people raising bugs.
See also bug 1469604 -> bug 1419971 which does the same for devtools.

Do you have an icon/logo of GeckoView?

I asked around, but we don't have a GeckoView logo or icon at this time. You can probably just reuse Firefox for Android's Bugzilla icon [1], though it is pretty dated. It features the pre- Firefox 57 logo! :)

Most of my other tasks are winding up, so I'll accomplish this today.

As an update: this process is being documented to allow for automation and/or other non-bmo-expert to do it.
As part of this very thorough process I realized this will need a code change, so I'm going to file that now. Probably this can go live by Wednesday.

There's been unrelated database/infrastructure issues that has prevented me from pushing out the code that recognizes GeckoView as having custom fields.
I can either:
1) wait until that code goes out
2) Make the change now, but custom fields (fx points, iteration, some others) won't be usable on the bugs until after the code push

Let's wait until the code goes out rather than run the risk of breaking bug metadata.

Both the code (Bug 1491973) and UI change (Bug 1470536) have already been landed.

What tracking flags does this need?
Flags: needinfo?(dylan) → needinfo?(kbrosnan)

For now assuming "Flags" implies tracking flags too.

Core is a good template for what we want. Dropping a NI to David as he is the engineering manager for the GV team.

Copying over discussion from Slack, :cpeterson says fine to use Core's versions and milestones.

This is done, again thanks to https://github.com/mozilla-bteam/saneutils (and in fact this work inspired that util)
