Why do we need to set this line in xpcshell.ini ? Among the 70 xpcshell.ini files that use this option, none use it with a different value than `browser`. What is the rationale? Reading out loud «firefox app dir is browser» sounds hollow. Why can't it be the default value? I lost **a lot** of time trying to figure out why my tests were not enable to fetch a resource:// file, whereas it was working fine in the browser console.
Can you clarify how this is different from bug 1215378? They look like duplicates to me.
