We will remove the ability to set an opensearch engine as a default engine. They will remain usable as a one-off search via the urlbar UI.

We should probably think about making sure @site search-term works for them as well.
What does this mean exactly? Will opensearch engines be automatically converted to webextensions (like bug 1486820)? What is the goal of this change?

(soon).
Can you, please, point me the link to the public announcement?
I've missed it and i would like to understand the reasons to drop OpenSearch (anything to do with privacy?)...
tks
