Now that awfy has been decommissioned and replaced by raptor in production we can determine what to do with the remaining hardware. quantum-flow-reference-1.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com is a laptop located at sstangl's desk in MTV2. awfy-shells-macpro.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com is a Mac Pro located at sstangl's desk in MTV2. awfy-win8.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-cmp-win.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-cmp-linux.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-cmp-osx.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com are mac minis located in the IT server room on the second floor of MTV2. bbouvier: Since this was a JavaScript community project initially, I would think that there might be a use for these machines on your team. If not, we can just take care of them like any other hardware. Can you ask your team if there is anything they would like to do with them? Once we decide what to do with the hardware, I'll file a Netops bug to remove any dns, acls, etc for them.
Flags: needinfo?(bbouvier)
ill needinfo myself so we can properly ewaste the hardware once a decision is made.

I vaguely asked on irc but nobody answered. Feel free to send an email to dev-tech-js-engine-internals@lists.mozilla.org.

> awfy-win8.mtv2.mozilla.com > awfy-cmp-win.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com > awfy-cmp-linux.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com > awfy-cmp-osx.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com Since these machines are already in the IT server room, I could use them for fuzzing. The fuzzing team already has existing machines there. Please reformat them cleanly to macOS and rename the FQDNs to: fuzzing1.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com fuzzing2.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com fuzzing3.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com fuzzing4.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com

:sstangl: Do you care about quantum-flow-reference-1.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com or awfy-shells-macpro.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com ? Can Van get rid of them?
Flags: needinfo?(sstangl)
I do not. OK to get rid of them.

>Since these machines are already in the IT server room, I could use them for fuzzing. The fuzzing team already has existing machines there. :gkw please use/order newer minis. a couple of these minis fail almost daily and we don't want to support something that's not under warranty or has such a high failure rate.
> a couple of these minis fail almost daily > and we don't want to support something that's not under warranty or has such > a high failure rate. I understand. We do have plans for new minis. However, for these ones, after the initial FQDN switch + initial reformat to clean macOS, we would not need any more support from you folks up till they die. It's just to use them until they destroy themselves and using our resources to the fullest. If they die, we don't need their data or try to repair them, we can just take them apart for parts or dispose accordingly. Does this sound reasonable?
oh sorry for the misunderstanding, it was more of an FYI as i thought you wanted to use these in production and i would be saving you some headache. FWIW, i believe 2 of these were already a hard down before they were decommissioned. i wouldn't have the cycles to work on these for at least the next month to month and a half and we don't support these 7+ year old minis anyway for reasons mentioned above. i am just helping :bc decommission the hardware in this bug.
Sure, whenever you get around to them, then. If they work (refreshed FQDN then reformatted), great, we'll take over, but if not, then it's not that high of a priority. Thanks!
Van: Could you go ahead and handle these machines at sstangl's desk and resolve this bug when you are done? quantum-flow-reference-1.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-shells-macpro.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com I didn't want to have unpatched machines running so I went ahead and shut down the following machines: awfy-win8.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-cmp-linux.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-cmp-osx.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com awfy-cmp-win.corp.mtv2.mozilla.com was not responsive. Gary: Could you file a new bug for reimaging and renaming the machines you want to use? I'd like to keep this bug focused on ending awfy.
