On Ubuntu 18.04 with Ambience theme, the scrollbar thumb enlarges when the cursor is over the thumb area but not over other parts of the scrollbar like with other GTK applications. Having the thumb enlarge to the full width of the scrollbar is useful feedback to the user that the clickable area is larger than it appears.
