The bar simply flickers until I stop dragging the tab. See attached. Switching Nightly's direction to LTR fixes this.

Thanks for logging, that's a known issue with the current implementation. We already have Bug 1488660 on file for this, so I will duplicate this bug, but I will move your screencast there.
