User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0 Steps to reproduce: When saving a file, it is common to want to either open the file or the folder that contains the file. Thunderbird should show a notification that includes buttons for doing either. This was implemented by GNotifier: https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/gnotifier/ but the addon was broken by TB 60 and the author (understandably) will not rewrite it: https://github.com/mkiol/GNotifier/issues/207

You can use "Tools > Save Files" (Ctrl+J).

M Lopez-Ibanez, thanks for filing this RFE, which I think is worthwhile.

As I have repeatedly pointed out, TB's workflow of saving attachments, then trying to open them or access their containing folder has been broken (interrupted) for long, because without somebody telling you that trick of comment 1 ("Tools > Saved Files" / Ctrl+J), it's all but undiscoverable.

I wonder!

There is no button that I can add to the toolbar to have this tab, unlike
for calendar and tasks.

I recommended to implement that button in Bug 1471833, but unfortunately the proposal was ignored and the bug was morphed into something else. That said, Bug 1471833 is going to improve your scenario by offering a permanent iconic "Open Containing Folder" button on each item of the "Saved Files" list (coming with the next release).

Bug 395605 is unrelated -> removing dependency.

You can use "Tools > Save Files" (Ctrl+J).

The problem with that: It's virtually undiscoverable, and this workflow is important enough that it should be self-explaining and easily accessible right after saving attachments.

Turns out that I had already filed this in bug 1351219.
