I really loved the possibility to use the good old QuickDraw rendering when displaying webpages in Chimera up to version 0.2.8. When I installed 0.3 today on my OS X 10.1.5 this option was completely lost. Does this feature come back in future versions? The snooth Quartz looks nice on bigger fonts but makes reading smaller text nearly impossible. Additionally the browser seems to render some fonts with Quartz (e.g. Arial) and dome with Quickdraw (e.g. Geneva) which looks really **** when both kinds are used on the same page.

I would also like to go back to the ATSUI method and anyway there should be a feature that allow you to choose between QuickDraw, Quartz, and ATSUI.

So basically a RFE to have a pref for setting text display to QuickDraw, 10.1.5 Quartz text, or ATSUI. To avoid this being overly technical (against the spirit of Chimera), there could just be a three-tick slider that says Text Display Faster | | | Smoother with Quartz for faster, 10.1.5 for the middle, and ATSUI for Better. If this is still to much of a geek feature it could just be a documented option in the prefs file with no front-end. And secondly figure out why text seems to be displaying using different systems on the same page; the link submitted with the bug is a great example, with the dates antialiased and everything else QuickDraw. This seems much higher priority than the options for different rendering systems, especially since the one we're using now is a nice middle-of-the-road solution.
Normally, I'd mark bug 151367 a duplicate of this one, since it's newer. However, its' Summary is better. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 151367 ***
