Since the uplift of 64 to Beta, I've noticed that the pub(gps) google-play-strings job is running on every push, even though it's set to "shipping phase: promote" in kind.yml.

Great catch! On top of my head, I cannot think of a root cause. I recently landed bug 1496090 and bug 1498626, but I don't think they caused this regression.

That is probably fallout from Bug 1498019 (specifically https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/70d26c3920b8#l2.12) that I think is fixed by Bug 1501759 (specifically https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/autoland/rev/ff0a31d4ba06#l1.50)

Indeed, no pub(gps) job on the uplift push of bug 1501759. I'll run a Fennec 64.0b4 build tomorrow so we can verify on Friday that the resulting publish jobs still work as expected. Then we can close this bug out after all's verified well there.

Can confirm that today's 64.0b5 build promotion successfully ran the google-play-strings jobs as expected. Closing this out.
