There are moments when I would like to cancel a landing shortly after I initiated it, when it has not yet arrived on autoland. The reasons can be manifold. Usually it's accidentally landing the wrong patch, noticing something wrong with the commit message only when it's spelled out to me in big letters, or suddenly remembering that I had not looked at the try results yet. In many cases it seems to me like there's enough time to just cancel the landing attempt, because of tree closure etc. But there's no button to do that. What I have to do is ask sheriffs to back out the patch as soon as it lands, which may take a variable amount of time depending on how long the tree is closed. Then I need to clear my needinfo, re-open the review on phabricator and sometimes (like today) deal with "no proper author information" issues. Admittedly, this is not something that happens to me everyday, but when it happens it's extra annoying. It would be great if I had the ability to cancel the landing for as long as the internal procedures allow it.
