found using 2002.06.10.05 branch commercial bits on mac 10.1.5. not a problem on win2k or linux rh7.2. 1. right-click the test url http://hopey.mcom.com/tests/a-really-really-really-long-image-filename.gif and select "save link target as..." from the context menu. 2. in the file picker that appears, look at the suggested file name in the "save as" textfield. expected results: "a-really-really-really-long-image-filename.gif" (w/o quotes) should be the suggested filename. that, or perhaps an abbreviated version which truncates it to 31 char, at least. actual results: "filename.gif" is the suggested filename. a bit too truncated.

see also bug 150727, where a crash occurs when saving a file with a long name when the dl mgr window is open.
Scroll the text field. I expect you'll find the name is longer that what's initially displayed
Forgot to add the truncation happens when you click save/ok, not when the suggested file name is initially displayed
i had tried scrolling to the left to see if the rest of the name was hidden in the textfield: didn't work. i'll add a screenshot to show what i'm seeing. spoke with steve, and he says that this is unlikely due to his changes, so i'll send this over to law for now... :)

okay, spoke more with steve. i've recently upgraded my OS, and also noticed that using the left arrow key to scroll (i was drag-selecting which didn't work somehow), and the rest of the filename bips into view. sorry for the noise!
