That damn FF add-on pasted the text I didn't want :-( - OK, some of this comes from here: https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/autoland/rev/fb7cfca6ebc3#l1.16 but they had already been using 'mach' so it's not a port, but I think it motivated the changes here.
