Steps to reproduce:
Dear Thunderbird Developers:
macOS Mojave 10.14.1

Thunderbird and me.com starts work again at version 52.9.1
Mac.com (Apple iCloud)
IMAP Server imap.mail.me.com
IMAP port 993
IMAP security SSL / TLS
IMAP username Your full email address without the @mac.com
IMAP password Your Mac.com password
Mac.com (Apple iCloud)
SMTP Server smtp.mail.me.com
SMTP port 587
SMTP security STARTTLS
SMTP username Your full email address without the @mac.com
SMTP password Your Mac.com password
Problem: when I enter the app specific password with remember, it accepts it (but nothing downloads). The next time I press new messages, it ask for the password again.
If I deliberately enter a bad password, it gets bounced and asks for the password again.
If I send an eMail, it asks for the password over and over.
To repeat: Thunderbird and me.com starts work again at version 52.9.1. I have updates turned off until you guys fix this.
Please fix
Many thanks,

Sounds like just password issue
Summary: Thunderbird 60+ on Mac does not work with me.com → Thunderbird 60+ password issue
if you delete the file pks11.txt from he profile folder before you start Thunderbird what occurs.
Hi Matt,
The customer does not have a pks11.txt file, but does have a pkcs11.txt file. I fugured it was a typo.
-
I exited Thunderbird
-
I deleted Thunderbird 52.9.1
-
I renamed pkcs11.txt to pkcs11.txt.000
-
I reinstalled 60.4.0
Happy camping returned. I did not even have to re-enter the password.
Maybe the bug here is that you should delete pkcs11.txt and start over when your do an upgrade? Make this part of upgrade housekeeping?
It is a known bug. Now I have to go find it to close this one.
