User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:65.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/65.0
Steps to reproduce:
I am hosting my own dovecot IMAP server and have the following mail in one of my subscribed folders.
See the server.mail attachment.
Changed parts (for privacy) are phone numbers or marked with [redacted], otherwise the file is 100 % untouched and comes straight from my /var/mail directory on the server.
I opened Thunderbird and browsed to the relevant folder and opened the relevant mail.
Actual results:
See the attached thunderbird.eml file. I have modified it in exactly the same way as above, that is, replaced the phone numbers with the same fake ones and [redacted] the same fields. Thus, the thunderbird.eml file should be identical, but it is not:
$ diff -b server.mail thunderbird.eml
24c24
< Amsg3
Amsg3)
A single closing parenthesis is attached to the end of the mail for no obvious reason.
Expected results:
The closing parenthesis should not be there, the mail should have been downloaded without changes/corruptions.
I checked older mails and they did not appear to be corrupt. A quick manual binary search showed me, that the last known good message was downloaded on February 8th at 17:01, the first known corrupt message was downloaded on the same day at 22:57.
This doesn't seem to be a coincidence:
$ pacman -Qi thunderbird
Name : thunderbird
Version : 60.5.0-1
[...]
Build Date : Do 07 Feb 2019 23:19:19 CET
Install Date : Fr 08 Feb 2019 18:40:57 CET
I observe this behavior as well. I look into the data directly on the IMAP server. For example one message on the server ends "------=_NextPart_000_0030_01D4C3B7.31CB3720--" line. But in the Thunderbird 60.5.0, when I display that message and dispaly its source (CTRL+U) then I see "------=_NextPart_000_0030_01D4C3B7.31CB3720--)". There are added a single closing parenthesis.

This should be fixed in TB 60.5.1. Caused by bug 1494764 which was reverted in 60.5.1. Let's dupe it there.
