There are some user reports (Google Play reviews) about the "Block autoplay" setting not surviving an APK upgrade.
I did a quick check on my phone, and to my surprise, "Allow autoplay" was turned on on my device, even although I was 90% sure I had set it to "block" at an earlier point in time.
Can we investigate if this is an issue?

Hi, Andreas,
What version are you using now? What version updating causes the problem, from release 64 to 65?
Thank you!

Do you mean now your Nightly won't block autoplay by default? I just updated my Android Nightly to the latest version via google play store, but the default setting is still blocking autoplay.

Yeah, that's what I mean. If you cannot reproduce, then I guess it can be closed.

bug 1527637? Seems like we may have regressed it in 65, fixed in 66.
Hi Nils, is this something that could have been caught by Telemetry in release/beta/nightly? I am wondering how our telemetry data pipeline can serve us better. Thanks!

Alastor knows our Telemetry data around block autoplay better then me. If we had a bug in there would this have been visible in our Telemetry data?

It seems to me that Telemetry is not used to catch this kinds of error.
Ah, I think that the issue might be caused by we changing the default blocking autoplay way for Fennec in bug1520663.
Now Firefox Android would align to desktop with using the user-gesture-activation model for blocking autoplay policy. If user would like to use the old way, they can turn off the pref media.autoplay.enabled.user-gestures-needed.
