Personal note:

Thunderbird crashes everytime when I write a new mail and then try to open the Enigmail menu. They say they can't fix the bug, it's a thunderbird bug.

Enigmail is a common theme for this signature - most crash comments mention it. However, not all crashes have enigmail installed. It may turn out that even the non-enigmail crashes have the same cause, but for now, in part because the engimail-related crashes seem more reproducible I think we should use this bug to focus on Enigmail-related crashes.

It might be significant that 93% of crashes are linux [1]. (And also, this is the #2 ranked crash signature for linux)

Perhaps also significant, is the graph showing a large uptick at the end of January [2].

Signature for linux is gone as of March 2, and Enigmail hasn't changed version since 2.0.9 shipped on October 2018.

A couple crashes like this point to S/mime - we did fix a couple issues in 60.5.0 and 60.5.1
bp-3c799d2b-bc7f-4674-aa79-c2f250190313 60.4.0 Thunderbird crashed repeatedly while trying to open an S/MIME digitally signed message.

But I hesitate to say the issue is gone - the signature may have morphed. Gosh I wish we had Thunderbird symbols in these linux crashes.

engineduck,
You are running ubuntu?
And what are your crash IDs when running version 60.5.0 or newer??
