The mozbuildinfo
webcommand is deprecated as well as broken. Since it is feature flagged, the plan is to turn off the feature before removing all the code behind it. Once the feature is off, then we'll wait to see if there are complaints. This bug is to track the shutdown of the feature and blocks Bug 1523745 (removal of the implementation code).
Question: does turning off the feature require a public announcement and a period for users to register objections?

An announcement wouldn't be a bad idea! Though we will almost certainly be removing the feature regardless of any objections raised, since it will be quite a lot of effort to fix and the plan is to move in-tree metadata to moz.yaml files anyways (see bug 1454867 and friends for more). I'm fine with either option. :)

as per email conversion with Kim, an announcement was deemed necessary.
at 2019-02-25 19:06:00UTC, the config value mozbuildinfo
was commented out. A TODO was added to tag the line to be removed entirely once it was determined that the change was acceptable.

As no problems have been reported with this change, I'm declaring this effort is complete.
