User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

Steps to reproduce:

In nightly:

  1. Disable the filter bar
  2. Just let displayd the search bar, the folders pane, the messages list. Diable as well the messages overview in the main window.

Actual results:

Pressing tab key does not move the focus. To switch between the toolbars, shift-tab is needed. And it goes to the search bar, then the tabs list, then the search bar again. It no longer comes back to the messages list. To go back there, a new tab key is needed, it takes the focus either on the mesages list, or on the folder list.

Expected results:

Tab and shift-tab keys had, so far, a cycle and predictible effect. tab went to folder list, messages list, tabs list, search bar. shift tab went in the opposed sense. Thie movement wa perfectly predictible and cyclic. It is essential for blid people, depending on this to move and take repairs in the windows.

F6 / Shift+F6 allow for coarse navigation switching between the folder pane, thread pane and message pane, while Tab key and other keys provide more granular movement, e.g. to links in the message.

I've noticed that sometimes on startup some keys don't seem to react if you have enabled a Chat account: the keys get eaten by the chat input field on a background tab, but there's another bug for that.

Can you find that bug report? I wasn't able to

I couldn't find it either :-(
A bug that comes close is bug 1107159.

not a beta blocker, but perhaps a release blocker. I don't know if it has been fixed on trunk by now

Unfortunately no. I test it everyday and the bug is still here. Exist in the calendar too (between the scedule list and the filter bar.

Regards

I can reproduce this in Daily with STR from comment #0. It also happens when you have no chat account's connected and no chat tab open, so it has nothing to do with my comment #1. After pressing Shift-Tab, the normal working of Tab is re-enabled.

I think bug 1558393 fixed the Shift+TAB issue, I filed bug 1561288 for the remaining issue of not being able to tab off the message list.

Sorry, I did not test as I expected the update window while now t is a pop-up. o I restarted TB and actually tested. And it fixes the bug 1558393 indeed, many thanks! Great!
