Some customers uploaded .ART files on our web site recently, and I was surprised to find that Mozilla (a.k.a. Netscape) didn't support this image format. I find it ironic (to the point of humor) that while Netscape is now owned by AOL[-TimeWarner], MS Internet Explorer is the only browser that appears to support this image format inline. (My apologies in advance if I step on any virtual toes by filing this RFE.) I realize that no open-source library is available that decodes this format, but my hope is that AOL will provide enough information to include support in Mozilla/Netscape (or that someone will reverse-engineer the format in the future). If you do a custom install AOL art support would be installed
Using Mozilla under Red Hat Linux 6.2? Or only on Windows?

you are right, this is a bug on linux only though, WFM Mac trunk build 2202062008 and win Xp branch 2002062008
OS: All → Linux
Umm ART is supported in Netscape commercial only AFAICT. So this bug is valid for all OSes since its an RFE for *Mozilla* ART support. The issue that ART doesn't work on Netscape commercial Linux does not belong on Bugzilla.
Per Comment #6, changed OS back to "All", and added "in Mozilla" to the Summary to make the bug clearer. (Mozilla 1.0 on Windows 98 does not render ART images. In fact, it prints out the URL for the image instead of rendering it.)
OS: Linux → All
Summary: RFE: Add support for AOL Image format (.art or image/x-jg) → RFE: Add support for AOL Image format (.art or image/x-jg) in Mozilla
this isn't going to happen. if you want ART, you're only going to get it in the netscape builds on windows and mac. linux isn't supported by the ART libraries.
