[Prerequisites]:

  • Have the "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.asrouter.devtoolsEnabled" pref set to "true" in the "about:config" page.

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Open the browser with the profile from prerequisites.
  2. Navigate to the "about:newtab#asrouter" page and scroll down to the "PIN_TAB" section.
  3. Click the "Show" button and click the "CFR Recommendation" button from the right part of the "Address Bar".
  4. Click the secondary action button from the right part of the "Not Now" one.
  5. Select the "Manage Recommendation Settings" option and observe the browser's "Back" button.

[Expected result]:

  • The button is inactive.

[Actual result]:

  • The "Back" button is active and if it is clicked, the page is scrolled up and back to the "Browsing" section.

It's more generic to CFR but could be considered pinned tabs yep

I've looked into other usages of openPreferences for Firefox Sync, Privacy Settings and they all seem to be doing the same thing (back button is active but doesn't really do anything). I don't think this is actually worth fixing.
