dateFormat.js functionality is also used in mailnews/base/content/markByDate.js: https://searchfox.org/comm-central/source/mailnews/base/content/markByDate.js
What should we do here?

Once those widgets would use input type="date" most of the functionality is not needed.
But let's drop this for now.
