Details
Normally, "gpu" tests are verified in TVg tasks. These include reftest-plain tests. On Android, TVg is not run. gpu tests are excluded from Android TV, just like desktop TV...so modified reftests are not verified on Android.
Maybe this would be okay if we just supported TVg on Android. But I wonder if that's necessary, since all android tests run in the same docker and emulator configuration.
Note that bug 1499208 made some android-specific allowances for a similar issue with TV-bf.
