(Spinning this out into a new bug from my random comment dumps in bug 1542751.)

On Apr 04 (hg rev bdaf1b36c44275dd4f027b4a4c30afed86cdfe13) it took the usual ~380 seconds. On Apr 05 (hg rev 61540ab18c9b1def917e2799b4a468c12abd4f38) it went up to ~3180 seconds.

This is a pretty bad regression. Filed https://github.com/livegrep/livegrep/issues/226 for it since it seems like we're hitting a perfomance cliff in codesearch.

This actually appears fixed now after the update to the new livegrep which happened in bug 1543520. @nelhage has an explanation in livegrep/livegrep#226.
