Steps to reproduce:

  1. added the GMAIL IMAP account
  2. under the SYNCHRONIZATION settings, I selected to synchronize the messages for the last 30 days

Actual results:

All messages are being synchronized, up to 2008. No matter which option I selected under the SYNCHRONIZATION settings.

Expected results:

synchronize all the messages for the given period of time

Sound exactly like this: Bug 1564421. Reporter, please see Bug 1564421 comment 6 for a pretty good explanation. Short answer: Sync of 30 days does not stop older emails from being visible in tb.
