couldn't quite find an existing bug for this, but dup as needed. tested using 2002.07.15 comm branch bits on linux, win2k and mac os x. 1. click the New Tab button in the personal toolbar (it's on the left side). 2. when the new tab opens, try to start typing. expected: focus should be in the urlbar with new, blank tabs. actual results: focus is not in the urlbar. typing does nothing. i need to mouseclick to actively set focus there in order to type. side note: this is *not* a problem when opening tabs via accel+T, or using the File > New > New Navigator Tab menu item.
bug 154302 has a similar result, but using control+enter.
Using trunk build 20020715, I can't see a New Tab button in personal toolbar, but there is one in the tab bar. Pressing it creates a new tab and sets the focus to the url bar, so this wfm. WinXP.
s/personal toolbar/tab bar. too many bars! /me wonders if this is commercial only.... *sigh*
sairuh, what is your homepage set to? Does it get loaded automatically in the new tab?
All new tabs should open with about:blank (for now). Sairuh, have you tried this on a Mozilla _trunk_ build before filing this bug in bugzilla?
no, i'll try mozilla trunk in a bit. if it's commercial-only, i'll move/invalidate this as needed. (i've seen this before a while back, but couldn't remember if it was limited to commercial...ah, time.) yeah, new tabs always open about:blank.
yep, found it --was a dup. what i'm seeing is still present in the commercial branch. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 151807 ***
