Details

If the OS has been set to dark mode, our UI theme switches to dark mode but about:reader pages will remain in light mode by default.

Priority: -- → P3

Hey ntim, I kinda forget how this all works... is there something that about:reader needs to do to opt-in to live updating to dark mode?

Flags: needinfo?(ntim.bugs)

Reader mode has its own independent setting that does not map cleanly (because sepia) and users may wish to set separately from the main dark mode setting. Changing reader mode to dark mode will persist (ie is a one-time operation) so we've wontfixed this in the past. I'm happy to reopen but for that to happen someone would need to describe how to make this work without losing extant functionality and making the code overly complex, or functionality difficult for users to understand.
