STR:

  1. Have some folders in the bookmarks
  2. Open about:preferences#home
  3. Under "Homepage and new windows", select "Custom URLs…"
  4. Use Bookmark…
  5. Try to expand the twisties

AR:
Twisties are expanded, but the items in the expanded folder do not appear.
If you close and re-open the Set Home Page popup, the same folder will be shown correctly.

From the browser devtools:

Bug 1579945 is possibly related. I'm consistently getting the error mentioned there when reproducting this bug.

This doesn't reproduce on a different machine where there are not that many bookmarks.

Huh, it now does -- also on a new profile. Not sure yet what is the exact STR to make this reproduce but it seems other tree styled lists are also affected.

Ah, I think I know how to reproduce.

  1. Set intl.uidirection to 1, restart Nightly
  2. Open the bookmarks sidebar
  3. Reset intl.uidirection, don't restart Nightly
  4. Set intl.uidirection to 1, again don't restart Nightly
  5. Try to expand the twisties in the bookmarks sidebar -- you can't
  6. See also errors logged in the browser Console

We were able to reproduce it following the steps of comment #6 on Windows 10, Mac OSX 10.14.4, and Ubuntu 18.04 (Linux x86) using the following Firefox versions:

  • Nightly 71.0a1 (2019-09-12) (64-bit) (Build ID 20190912094122)
  • Beta 70.0b5 (Build ID 20190909162732)
  • Release 69.0 (64-bit) (Build ID 20190827005903)

I've updated the flags as well.
