User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open two or more tabs in Firefox;
  2. Close Firefox;
  3. Note that there is no 'closing multiple tabs' warning;
  4. Search Preferences for a setting for this;
  5. Note that such a setting cannot be found.

Actual results:

Firefox closes with no warning.

Expected results:

At some point, the closing multiple tabs warning ceased to be shown for me using FF 69.0.1 (the warning shown in "ClosingMultipleTabsWarning.png"). I do not remember unchecking the box in the dialog. I cannot find a setting under Preferences to re-enable this behavior. I've also searched a bit under the "about:config" settings for something related, but nothing pops out at me there. So I do not seem to be able to re-enable this warning.

I've looked a bit at bug 419009 and set "browser.sessionstore.warnOnQuit" to "true," but it enables a different dialog.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Preferences

There is "Warn you when closing multiple tabs" under "Tabs" in the "general" pane of the preferences. It only shows up if the warning is disabled. (cf. https://imgur.com/a/cd8ktBx ). Does that help find it? If you don't see it there, can you post the contents of about:support (help > troubleshooting information, click 'copy raw data to clipboard', upload at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=1584766&action=enter ) ?

Oh, or are you closing the last Firefox window that's open, and is Firefox set up to restore your session automatically when you restart?

Oh, or are you closing the last Firefox window that's open, and is Firefox set up to restore your session automatically when you restart?

You figured out my problem -- thank you!. The "Restore previous session" setting was selected. I deselected it and now get the warning I was looking for. In answer to your other question here and in the previous comment (#2), no, I was closing the whole Firefox browser with multiple and only one tab open. And, I did not have a "Warn you when closing multiple tabs" under "Tabs" in the "general" pane of the preferences. Your following sentence does explain why I did not see that setting in FF under openSUSE Leap 15.1, where I did and do get the warning.

Unless I've brought up another issue, I thing this report can be closed as resolved. Thanks, Jared, for all you do to keep FF running.
