Details

(Keywords: hang)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Steps to reproduce:

When I send an email SOMETIMES it hangs (Defined by spinning color wheel and having to eventually force quit). As it turns out the email does reach its destination so the freeze or hang is on my end after the send is complete. It can happen when I compose an email and send or when I reply to an email. I have not tried safe mode since I have no idea when it will happen and I might have to leave safe mode on for days. I have no add ons or plug ins. My System is POP and SMTP. This happened when I went from Snow Leopard to El Cap on a 2007 Mac Pro. I did the same thing on my 2011 Macbook Pro which sends fine.

Actual results:

Since sending email is the only step to try and reproduce every time I send an email I am just waiting to see if it happens. I have deleted and reinstalled and done updates while on the new OSX.

Expected results:

Software should send without hang.

My report was moved over as a duplicate. But I don't consider it as such. It does not hang on progress bar. It hangs right after the send is complete. I am not IMAP as my server type is listed as POP. Sadly I find the streams a bit confusing to follow but thought it was worth a try.

Exact match not necessary. We've decided the other bug is not imap-only. And progress bar is just a possible symptom, not a cause.
But thanks for the info.

OK, Thank you for that explanation.
