On a Fennec 68.1.1esr installed on LineageOS (Android version 9), it is impossible to copy to/from Firefox.

Copying from firefox:

1. In firefox, longpress on a word "example"
2. Click copy
3. Go to another application
4. Longpress in an input area
5. Click paste
6. Rather than pasting the word selected in firefox, it pastes a previous selection!

Copying to firefox also fails.
Indeed, long-pressing in any zone where text could be pasted (such as address bar, or a form field) gives either no reaction, or a menu which lacks a paste option.
Copy-pasting in other appliction, or even between 2 other applications (such as termux and k9mail) works fine.

Strangely enough copy-pasting from&to firefox on an 68.2.0esr installed on an Android 4.4.2, works just fine.
Likewise, 68.2.0 on Android 9 also works fine.

The last four desktop Nightly builds or so probably have exactly the same bug. Copying from the address bar throws NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIClipboardHelper.copyString] at UrlbarInput.jsm:2231 and fails to copy (sometimes it fails to copy without an error and sometimes it fails to copy from the page content, also without an error).

It only works when I blur the address bar, then try to copy it again.

I will close this issue as INVALID as we do not offer support for Custom Rom Android.

@ Sebastian Simon - for the desktop version for the issue , please create a new ticket under product Firefox.

Note: as per my investigations with stock rom the issue does not reproduce, tested with Samsung Galaxy S9 (Android 8.0.0) and Google Pixel 3 XL (Android 9) with official Firefox builds: Fenix/Firefox Release 2.2.0, Release 68.2.0, Firefox Beta 68.3b2 and Firefox Nightly 68.3a1 (2019-11-02). Please use the latest builds on a stock rom.

Today, F-Droid proposed me 68.2.0esr on my Lineage OS phone. So I upgraded to it, but unfortunately the problem still persists.

Could it be that Firefox is somehow using a non-standard API for copy-paste, which would explain why copy-paste works for all other apps on the same platform, but not for Firefox?
