Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/70.0.3538.102 Safari/537.36 Edge/18.18362

Steps to reproduce:

There are not steps to reproduce the issue.

Actual results:

Recently I've installed the 68.2.2 x64 bit version of thunderbird and once per day TB shows a new icon before the "Switch to the calendar tab" icon/button with a pop up message stating that a new version is available. Clicking on it, brings me to the download web page for the latest release that I've already have.
Indeed, to check if a really new version is available I click on Help > About Thunderbird and it says I've already the latest.

Expected results:

I guess the pop up message and the icon shouldn't be shown.

Thanks.

P.S. I didn't notice it. I wrote my comments directly on the bug tracker. Let me know if I have to do that on the TB Forum/community first or only.

What is the value of user agent string found at help > troubleshooting?

Thanks, I think I have the suame issue as described in #1586699.

Before writing my post I checked if there was already filed a similar bug but I couldn't find it.
Anyway, thanks.

No problem. Any idea which circumstances cause this. I'm on 68.2.2 myself and all is well.

Have no idea. It showed up with this 68.2.2. x64. I haven't had that popup msg on previous versions.
I just hibernate my pc and the day after it shows it up again.
Note: there was a link (Learn more) on that pop up message I clicked once and it brought me on a web page with all TB releases, including the last one 68.2.2.

I haven't looked for details because it's not a blocking issue for me, but if it could help you all I'm a software engineer.

Thanks again
