Steps to reproduce:

We have oauthbearer&xoauth2 enabled on Dovecot IMAP which configured to interact with Auth Provider on Premises such as Keycloak. Thunderbird seems to fail in detecting the protocol and producing error 'The IMAP server does not support the selected authentication method' when selecting 'oauth2' from Authentication mechod drop-down list.

Actual results:

The IMAP server does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'authentication method' in the 'Account Setting | Server settings'

I think bug 1602166 would cover this.
