Steps to reproduce:
Merci

Address concerned contact@escalier-acier.fr
my email is thunderbird and IMAP protocol
Our mail manager had problems with the mail server at OVH and he transferred everything to GMAIL.
My manager asked to delete the address on thunderbird
and recreate the same address but with the GMAIL parameters.
the creation of the new account went well.
and all messages have been recovered.
Actual results:
Now every time I send an email, a message is written: "time limit for connection to the server ssl0.ovh.net exceeded"
I don't understand because everything is transferred to gmail.
To try to correct it, I deleted all Thunderbird thinking that there were traces of the old account.
I reinstalled thunderbird and let the software find IMAP and SMTP servers itself.
Thunderbird has put back the old servers that were at OVH!
I did tests on other messaging systems (outlook, zimbra etc.) and all of them point to GMAIL except thunderbird.
While researching the problem I saw that you have a database of ISPDB addresses which allows thunderbird and automatically put IMAP and SMTP servers.
Can you remove these traces from the old account?
Thank you

Not sure I understand. Did the reporter delete the old account, including the stored data, and recreate a new gmail account? Or did he just change the imap and smtp server names to gmail URLs? The first way should work. The 2nd way may show the original server name when errors occurs.
But don't know why either way would cause a timeout when sending email. More details would be helpful.

I read you description again and it sounds like the new gmail account is somehow using the old outgoing server OVH for sending mail. Go to account setting and select the gmail account, top level. You will see near the bottom "outgoing server SMTP". Is it using gmail? You can check more by looking at the "Edit SMTP Server..." button. Inside you should see something like:
Description: google mail
Server name: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Connection Security: TLS/SSL
Authentication: oauth2
User name: <yourname>@gmail.com
You can enter the correct values. Alternatively, maybe gmail outgoing is already configured on you system and you just need to select it. You can use the / widget (downward pointing arrow) and see the list and maybe select gmail from it that was auto-configured when you setup the gmail account.
if my email address is contact@escalier-acier.fr
how to put <yourname> @ gmail.com
I don't understand your advice

Sounds like you have a non-free gmail setup, that I don't know much about, that allows you to use your own email address and not, like mine, gene.smith@gmail.com. So just put in for smtp setup User Name your address that gmail accepts: contact@escalier-acier.fr
Maybe that will work, but not sure I understand (or have) all the details of the problem.

tino, it might be helpful if you can tell me how these items are all actually set for the outgoing server screen for the new gmail account:
Description: google mail
Server name: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Connection Security: TLS/SSL
Authentication: oauth2
User name: <yourname>@gmail.com
Thanks.

Sounds like you forgot to change the SMTP (outgoing) server to use for the account?
Check the account settings for that account. On the main page, see the Outgoing Server (SMTP) options.
Hello Magnus
thank you for your help
so I deleted all Thunderbird with a program that cleans up the traces also in the registry
I reinstalled thunderbird and let the software find IMAP and SMTP servers itself.
Thunderbird has put back the old servers that were at OVH!
like this
incoming IMAP server ssl0 ovh.net SSL
outgoing SMTP server ssl0 ovh.net SSL
username contact@escalier-acier.fr
Why ?
Thank you
Tino

You'll have to get whoever administers that server to remove/correct the file.

I'm sorry to annoy you, but as you said before, it's only Thunderbird who put these values to me,
neither outlook nor zimbra etc
thank you

Yes because the configuration file put in place (see comment 10) is only for Thunderbird (and maybe some mobile clients). Outlook uses a different mechanism.
