RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1601905

People

(Reporter: jmycre, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/79.0.3945.88 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

First case: I write an email, I add attached files (eg pdf files). To check that the attachments are correct, I click on the file in the attachment pane.

Second case: I have received an email with attached files.
I click on the files in the attachment section in order to open it.

Actual results:

In both cases 1 and 2:
If it is a word file, Word opens itself and I can see the file.
If it is a pdf file, Adobe Reader does not open itself, instead, there are two new tabs on chrome.
The first one shows the error ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND
The second one shows the error ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Expected results:

Before upgrading to Thunderbird version N°68, I could open attached pdf files without problem.

Do the path or file names have spaces in them?

It does not matter. The bug occurs in both cases.
and so far, it occurs only with pdf files.
With png, doc, xls files, the attachments can be opened correctly.
Let me please underline that this bug is a regression from the previous version.

In what way does this report vary from Bug 1601905 You say it does not matter if there are spaces. Are you sure of that as there is a patch in the other bug report that will be released with 68.4. Perhaps report back if it does not fix the issue.

actually, you are right.
I had done the test with a file saved on my Desktop, but there were spaces in the path.
Test done at the root of the hard drive, and the pdf could be opened. So yes, the bug is probably the same as the one you mentionned.
Thanks
