From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020724 BuildID: 2002072408 Mozilla crashes whenever it trys to launch Windows Media Player 7.1! Also Mozilla is unable to display the menu column on the right! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to site 2. click on the movie icon 3. Mozilla quits
Kassim, please report one problem per bug. Please report the problem with the right column as a separate bug. Can you advise this non-Arabic reader how to locate the movie icon on the page? It's not obvious. Does Mozilla ever generate any TalkBack reports after these quits? Do you have TalkBack enabled?
Severity: normal → critical

WFM, build 2002071303, Mac OS 9.1 I don't hear any sound either from the sound or video clips but I do see video in WMP for a video clip. Greg, just look for the video and sound icons more than half way down. The link will refer to a .asf file.
WorksForMe using Mac/2002080208/9.2.2 and WMP 7.1.2.1203. Kassim, how about the TalkBack reports I mentioned in comment 1?
Fully reproducible under MacOS 8.6 / Mozilla 1.2b (release). It only happens when WMP has to be launched. If it's already opened, Mozilla doesn't quit. I'm not sure that Mozilla crashes... I think it quit. No TB is available.
Benjamin, can you try to get how and sc data using MacsBug?

I got this many times, with movies, never with sounds. Test this: http://www.omroep.nl/radio1/live20.asx It is refrenced in Bug 176071. I have an immediate crash. Tall back is comming
The talk back is launched when i restart mozilla, not after the crash TalkBack ID is TB12932195W. I don't know if it is usefull. Two tests with http://www.omroep.nl/radio1/live20.asx Go to the site when Media player is already launched: No problem Go to the site when Media player in not launched: Crash Mac OS 9.1, Build 2002101808. The Build is not important, i have this problem since a long time. Media Player French Version 7.1.2.1203 (Info Window)
Just some little things - It works with NS4 - The asx seems to be only a sound, so what i said in comment 6 about sounds is not correct. - An other think that i had never seen before: When i click on the link above with NS4, the new page is displayed a very short time, (I see only the gray background), and NS4 returns to this bug page. Is Media player sending a "Go back" to the browser ?
I can't reproduce on my PM8600 Mac8.6. WMP doesn't launch at all... in short Bug 176071. But here the stack on a PM7500 MacOS8.6. On Moz crash. Benjamin, for future reference, that sort of crash data should be attached to bugs rather than being quoted in a comment.

If this crash isn't happening on MachO builds (OS X) it should probably be marked invalid as there is no current support for CFM builds.
OS X issue is Bug 119045 OSX: Windows Media Plug-in fails on initialize
This bug is targeted at a Mac classic platform/OS, which is no longer supported by mozilla.org. Please re-target it to another platform/OS if this bug applies there as well or resolve this bug. I will resolve this bug as WONTFIX in four weeks if no action has been taken. To filter this and similar messages out, please filter for "mac_cla_reorg".
Since mac classic is dead on mozilla, I'm duing this against the corresponding mac os x bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 119045 ***
