Here is a (bad) usability issue with address book:

When I create mail lists I only enter email addresses as list members. These
list members seem to automatically appear as cards in the address book.

After a while I check my address book and find that I have a lot of garbage
addresses in the address book and I delete them.

By doing so, I delete those entries from the mailing list that I have set up a
while ago as well. Thus my list is broken and the data is lost.

This is a bad, bad case that just happened to me.

A dialog telling that

"Removing this address from the address book would also remove this address from
the following mailing lists:
...
Do you really want to delete this address?

[ ] Do not show this message again"

would probably clarify that issue.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
create a mail list and enter mail addresses. delete one of those in the address
book. Check the mailing list again.

How about Thunderbird just doesn't fill up your address book with **** that you don't want to put in there? I hate it when a program tries to be "smart"...

I confirm the reported behaviour for the latest TB version (2.0.0.23). Moreover I consider it to be quite a severe bug because it may lead to an undiscovered loss of members in mailing lists.
By trying I found out, that the problem exists in the display of the address book. If I close the AB after having added members to the list, and reopen it again, there are no more duplicate member entries.
This bug exists for more the 7 years abut there's no work done onit so far. I'd like to ask the developer community either close the problem without change or fix it. If there'll be no change, it should be taken into the list of known issues.
